Reco for Adolescent DBT/CBT providers in Alexandria

Anonymous
We have a 15-year-old DD who currently is at Rogers in Wisconsin in their Focus Depression residential program. When she returns home, she will need to roll into a continuing DBT/CBT program here in Alexandria. Does anyone have recos for great DBT/CBT providers in the Alexandria area for teens?

Potomac Behavioral Solutions in Crystal City (near Alexandria).

If you Google DBT Bethesda or other area you get several places. Maybe same for Alexandria, or do the drive. The book Parenting a Teen who has Intense Emotions is written from a DBT perspective as well.

Any feedback on this from someone that has done their program?

I hope your DD emerges soon to your family!

I’m an Alexandria resident who sought counseling for my teen and have had tremendous trouble finding therapists nearby. You may need to drive—we have ended up either online or at the City of Alexandria for counseling covered by insurance.

We did for our younger child (not the teen program). It's a legit DBT, "by the book" program. We had a mis-match with your counselor and in retrospect should have switched. However, I know someone who had two teens do it, and they were extremely pleased with the program. Also, I talked to a few parents in the waiting room who had done different programs/saw different people elsewhere in the area, who were raved about PBS. The younger kids program was new when we did it, and I think they were still figuring it out.

I should add that one parent whose child was discharged from a day program said that the PBS program had "saved her daughter's life." Just thought I would add that.

Unfortunately we have found that most places are not taking on new patients so your options may be limited.
