We are keeping 4th grader home for DL and sending 5 year old to private K.
Anyone else doing something similar? |
| We are. Sending younger kids to K and 2nd. Keeping 5th and 6th graders home. |
|
3 yr old preschool.
K'er the minute school opens, but home for now. |
| I don’t see the point from a contagion standpoint. Both first grader and preschooler are going to be home |
| What is the purpose of this thread, OP? |
| Who even has an option to send older kids in person? |
|
I am planning to keep my sixth grader and third grade home doing virtual learning because they can mostly fend for themselves and I currently have the kindergartner registered for a private kindergarten class at a daycare but I’m starting to second-guess this if everybody else is home and I’m considering keeping her home too. My husband and I disagree and I really don’t know what to do. I’ll take advice on the topic if anybody wants to weigh in.
We both work but we can work from home indefinitely. |
| My sister is. 4.5 year old will be going to Pre-K with 4 others in the classroom while monitoring 10 year old with DL at home and toddler. |
| Probably me. 6th and 2nd will be home (for now at least since school isn't open) but I will send my preK kid. The DL schedule has my older kids occupied/on zoom/doing work from 8am-2pm daily (I think it's too much TBH) and I work FT. My preK kid will be on her ipad all day or bugging my older kids to play. I will pick up preK kid at 12:30 to avoid naptime/play with her siblings in the afternoon. |
| Probably us. 3rd and 1st will be home (maybe homeschooling, maybe DL depending on how DL goes). PreK kid will be in school 5 days a week. it sort of boggles my mind. |
|
Yup. Sending 3 year old to preschool, first grader will be home. We sent the older one to outdoor camp over the summer and if school were open we'd be sending him, but it's not, so it's not a choice.
The 3 year old has been home since March. As long as preschool is open and seems to be safe, she will be going. She needs the social and mental stimulation. They reopened in July and are doing well so far (though we chose to wait until September), so fingers crossed. I am a bit nervous, but everything is a gamble. It's about weighing the risks. For now this seems a reasonable course. |
| Yes, my 4 year old just started preschool, 8 year old will be distance learning. |
OP asked a question and would like answers. Go away, peep! |
| This is helping me feel better. I have anxiety sending our Ker to private and him bringing home all sorts of germs. I may bring him a change of clothes every day and give him a bath as soon as we get home. Is that crazy? |
Yes, crazy. If he gets covid it will be through breathing the air, not wearing his clothes. Wash hands, that’s enough. |
