Thursday afternoon. The SSUD cops wanted to make a false arrest towards the end of the shift so that they could claim some additional overtime comp. typical cop fraud.

Why did they ram their car into the woman's car? They weren't posing any threat. Does this go on in dc often? I wouldn't want to visit if this is what it is like.

Always remember that a federal police force is better trained and highly qualified. Unlike the local police forces that are uneducated yokels that abuse their authority.

It seems like a lot of these interactions are based off of "stolen car" reports. This one had the car listed as having been driven by a criminal according to the article; I'd like to hear more about that. Another incident (not in DC) had Hertz reporting a car stolen that wasn't. This happened to us--we returned a car to Hertz that they lost track of--and keep flagging as stolen. If someone else is driving it, they could have a problem. There is a public interest in retrieving stolen cars; there also needs to be a way to clean up these data bases. Ugh.

I'm sorry what happened to these ladies and their kids; sounds like there will be an investigation. Total aside--I would like to know why they thought it was a good idea to go 'swim' in the WW2 memorial (their plan for the day). Swimming in public fountains can be dangerous and is not a good idea for many reasons.

The women should be ashamed of themselves for treating the memorial like a public pool.

Keep that same energy for all the parents and tourists who bring their kids there every weekend. Aside from that I don't see the issue with wading in the pool? They built it to be completely accessible. What are people expected to do instead - come there and stare somberly at the water for minutes at a time and then leave?

Well, many if the people in the water are American. Not being white and black doesn't mean they are not American.
However, no one should get into the water. It is disrespectful and unhealthy. I wonder if these babies in diapers had swimming diapers or regular diapers.

Fountains are not pools. There have been deaths of people 'swimming' in fountains, including recently at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. They often have extremely powerful pumps and filtration systems. I imaging chemical treatments too. I have nothing against the park service or city opening up a fountain for a fun/safe day of splashing (if they can ensure it), but citizens should not take it upon themselves to randomly hop in.

And police should not recklessly point guns at people who happen to hop in a damn fountain.
Stop trying to sneakily slide away from the real seriousness at hand.

They weren't in the fountain. So what you are asserting did not happen.

Oh so they just damn near shot two moms who weren’t even doing anything wrong.
Great that makes it so much better.

This is not a pool. That is the issue.
