Brown spotting at 14 weeks

Anonymous
I had a subchorionic hematoma that caused very light brown spotting from 5 weeks to 10 weeks or so, then it tapered off to virtually nothing. Since then, I've had a normal NT scan and NIPT results came back low-risk, so I started to relax. There was no sign of the SCH on the NT scan. Today, though, I started spotting again -- still definitely brown but heavier than before. Anyone have anything like this? Could it be the remnants of the SCH?

Possibly. Please contact your ob gyn.

I know this is stressful.

Definitely check with your ob. Did you have sex recently? I occasionally have spotting a day or two after sex while pregnant.

I hope all is okay, OP! Thinking of you.

Definitely ask your OB but this can indeed be totally harmless.

Thanks, everyone. I did call the triage line at my OB's office, and they said what I expected they would say: wait and monitor, call back if it turns red or gets heavier, but this could well just be the SCH resolving or something else benign. I sure wish I had a home doppler right now...

I had a SCH that started at 6 weeks - 9 weeks and then seemed to resolve. But at 11 weeks, it came back and I had constant spotting from 11-17 weeks, when it finally resolved again. My dr said that, as long as the bleeding isn’t heavy, bright red, or grey tissue, or accompanied by heavy cramps, it’s probably nothing b

Sounds like just remnants of the SCH, I spotted brown on and off for what seemed like months after my SCH.

This happened to me when I was pregnant. About the same time in my pregnancy. My baby is now 6. I think red blood is more of a concern.

That's good! Of course keep monitoring as they say but you should be reassured that they didn't tell you to come right in.

OP here. Thanks for the advice and reassuring stories. The spotting seems to have tapered off some today, and I can feel reassuring flutters of movement right now, so I'm feeling a little less anxious.

This is pregnancy #4 for me (including one first trimester loss), and I never had a single day of bleeding or spotting with the others. It's helpful to know that others have had similar symptoms and all has worked out ok.

I had spotting with both of my pregnancies. It’s something that always need to get checked out but for me at least it was nothing.
