Spectators

Can someone explain this to me and I am not sure if this is just our club - if kids are allowed to practice and scrimmage, why are parents not allowed to watch if socially distanced and outside? We received notice from our club that there are "legal reasons" parents cannot watch scrimmages between club teams. I am assuming the legal reasons are related to covid but how is this different than sitting at a park socially distanced with a mask on?

I guess you could be counted as part of the over group and this would put the scrimmage over 100 people. The real reason most likely is clubs have a very tough time controlling parents. What do you do if a group of parents show up, refuse to mask up and carry on as normal?

we're not allowed to watch from the field for insurance reasons. We watch from 1 ft off of the field

It’s pretty simple to understand, less people less exposure, less people touching fences and having close conversations, using restrooms.

Why double possible exposure for no reason

Most parents I've seen at practices are worse at social distancing and mask-wearing than the kids.

I suspect "legal reasons" is the club's insurance plan mandating "no spectators".

that's super obnoxious.

My DS plays ECNL for BRYC and no parents are allowed inside the fenced area. There is one over enthusiastic parent who stands at the fence for the entire practice face pressed against the chain link.

Being the “dick” in “dickhead”.

Should there be games while social distancing for spectators, a team manager or another person should be allowed to set up a camera to record or livestream the game so that parents can watch the game while still stay in the car.

this is seriously dumb. outdoor activities have been allowed for months now in maryland.

Social distancing on the sidelines while wearing masks is perfectly safe. If they want to allow 22 kids on the field playing the game they wont be stopping me from watching.

You’re just thinking of yourself, which is okay. But my suggestion also includes any health compromised/elderly grandparents that wants to watch too.

I was responding to the comment referring to those that want to stay in the car.

uh no, this is false except in montgomery county which is taking things to extremes.

If you can have 50% restaurant capacity indoor with more than 50 people you can put 22 kids on a field and 30 parents on the sideline, outdoors, wearing masks, social distancing. Ridiculous.
