Part time nanny standard provisions?

Anonymous
We have a college student who be working for us as a part time nanny this school year. She'll be working 20 hours/week. I'm trying to work through the last few details to put together a nanny contract for her.

What are the standard/fair provisions for a part time nanny?

We were thinking 5 paid sick days for her and she still gets paid if someone in our family is sick and she cannot work as a result. Is that fair?

Are paid holidays standard for part time nannies?

Is there anything else I'm missing? Especially Covid-related? She has a high risk family member, so we have agreed that everyone will wear masks when they are indoors and in the same room.

Any suggestions on a pay roll service to use?

She's a great young woman and I'm excited to have her work with my kids this year. I want to make sure I'm treating her fairly. We are new to using a nanny, so advice is appreciated.

Thank you.

Search nanny payroll in your browser. There are ~15 reputable companies, but people have their own reasons for who they prefer.

Sounds good. Yes, she gets paid legal holidays if they fall on her scheduled work day.

Good luck!

Are you planning to give her a 20 hour guaranteed pay whether or not you need her for whatever reason and she's available? If not, please consider it. This includes if her workday falls on a holiday or a day you yourself take off personally. For 10 years and two part-time positions, I had guaranteed pay like this and wouldn't accept it any other way.
