Discipline for not wearing masks

Anonymous
A friend's DD is starting pre-k out of state, and said she just showed me their mask mandate. First and second instance of touching your face earns you a two day suspension, third instance is expulsion. First instance of forgetting mask or pulling it below your nose is expulsion. Even for pre-k.

This seems harsh. Has anyone else run into this?

All pre-k kids will be suspended in the first half-hour, and the rest elementary kids by the end on the first day.

Public school pre-K or private school/preschool pre-K?

Link?

That was my thought.

Public.

I won’t believe this until OP links to the policy or tells us the district.

If this is true, it’s beyond belief. We live in a failing state and are expecting 4 year olds to pick up the slack.

+1

Expulsion for pre-schoolers and Kindergarteners touching their face? They’ll walk that back on day 1.

When there's an alternative of DL, then these rules make sense. And they're probably not needed. Kids wear masks. The only people having trouble with masks are politicians.

This has to be a troll. OP hasn’t responded. There are so many rumors going around from “my friend” you can’t believe anything. OP wants to get people worked up over nothing. Like I said before, post the link or the district or I call BS.

Not all kids are having problems with masks. We made it mandatory for leaving the house for our 4 year old in March. She’s now able to put most on herself. Leaves it on.

I think it’s probably hard with younger kids helping them understand why. But the more you normalize using masks at home the easier this is going to be for them if they are in school

Seems extreme. I doubt it will be enforced.

It's likely just to scare parents straight.

There's alot of parents who don't want to make their kid unhappy and are lax with having their kid wear a mask. Push parents to normalize it at home.

Yes these policies are to help train THE PARENTS.

But also, all the kids will be expelled by lunch.

Kids really don't need to understand why. I guarantee my 2 year old did not understand why the school insists on pants, or shoes, but he kept them on because we didn't make it a choice.

I suspect all the parents claiming their kid "can't" wear a mask haven't actually tried to teach their kid.
