How much are you spending to make your kids' fall DL experience better?

I'm thinking about computers equipment, desks, chairs, tutors, pods, etc. We're trying to decide how much to spend and I'm curious what others are doing.

Depends on pod set up.

If I end up hosting I will need new furniture.

If we decide on a tutor, that will cost.

Fun day trips to prevent monotony, more money.

I’m all in, my kids are going to have a good year.

No pod. We already have a computer, external monitor, desk, headset and mouse. All we need is a chair and microphone. Chair is on order. We were slowly doing it pre-covid.

Skipping DL. Spent about $1500 on homeschool materials.

Good for you.

My kids are high school age but I'm not ruling this out if fcps screws up dl again.

I can’t think of anything we need...

My kids have desks, they have chairs, they have school chromebooks. What else would they need? We can run out and get notebooks & binders.

My best guess is $50k this year, $200k to get him through HS at a private. 1st interview at school #1 was Monday, next for school #2 is today. I am certain DS will get into the one that interviewed Monday, we will see how today goes.

My other 2 are in college, but mcps has turned into such a mess, even though we moved to our neighborhood for the schools, we just can't take it any more: we are OUT.

We bought computers, desks, and chairs for both our kids. We would have probably done this for our oldest around now anyway... but The distance learning bumped up our timeline and convinced us to just go ahead and do it for the younger too. It’s a lot to spend for “back to school supplies” but will be so much better than the kids using a mini iPad while sitting at the kitchen table with 3 other people working.

We kicked one kid out of his single room and he now bunks with a brother. Then we painted the new "school room," and moved in each kid's desk/chair. We repurposed some bookshelves for all the stuff. We bought a white board and it will get hung next week after the paint dries a little more (it has been so humid). Each kid already has a laptop and we moved the household printer into the school room. So in addition to the normal back-to-school supplies our expenses for DL were: paint and the white board. I think we're in pretty good shape for whatever comes our way.

$1800/ month to send my rising K to a daycare K class

$0 right now on my older two kids. They have chrome books & we have teacher parents in our pods.

Nothing for my own kids, they’re pretty much set. For myself to teach, an external webcam for better quality video, a whiteboard, a ring light, maybe an Apple Pencil, and I will probably spring for the subscription fee for digital platforms I want to use that school won’t cover.
