ECNL moving to school year not calendar

The best thing ECNL could do is to extend the rule that 2 trapped players can play with SY groupings in 2025 for all ECNL age groups, not just the 8th trap. That would allow an easing into the age change and create a smoother transition.

Blew past 600 without even a mention! +60 bot might be the most annoying poster since this party started, but it deserves credit for creating some momentum as the thread had been dying before it arrived.

That said, +60 will continue to exist only in +60 bot’s dreams, as helping 1-2 months of kids avoid being trapped (some (although not all) of whom are trapped by their own parents’ decision to have them start school late) is not worth making another 1-2 months of kids play with teammates who are 13-14 months older than them.

Agree but might to limit it to say Nov and Dec births to avoid in fighting. The small step that is needed to start realigning but not blow things up.

Most real world problems don't have perfect solutions.

Wearing seat belt doesn't prevent ALL fatality, but isn't it a pretty good law to have? It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

If a simple fixed date could solve MOST trapped player problem, then it is probably as good as it gets.

Good job now the remaining trapped players are double screwed over.
You are trying to let perfection be the enemy of good.

Because school rules in the U.S. are not uniform, youth soccer can only do so much without causing more problems. They know this and have known this for years which is why 8/1 worked. And worked better than birth year as a whole.

Hopefully having say 9/1 and birth year options will offer the choice needed for various situations and be better than across the board birth year or 8/1.

I feel like last night’s surge was fueled by late night, alcohol induced rants. But I’ll take it as long as it will keep this party going to 700!

700? I demand 1000 by June. If we get some good meeting notes, details on MLSN2, and at least one pre-emptive change by ENCL it is in reach!

And just to boost our numbers, let me drop this nugget in here...my SY kid could beat up your BY kid. The only reason your BY kid is scoring 2 goals a year is because they are a March baby. Eat that

If we're ALL being honest, the true top kids playing a year or MORE up already, eat everyone's lunch and aren't affected by the whole SY/BY debate!

The Q4 kid playing up a year is much more impressive than the Q1 kid playing up, so wouldn’t a switch to SY make that Q4 kid standout even more while the Q1 may just be average?

In your dreams! My Q4 kid playing 6 levels up scored 14 goals in the first half against the #2 ranked team in the country, while nursing a sore hammie. 456 scouts were at that game alone to watch. Could barely get out of the parking lot they were hounding my kid so bad. Had to get over to their training session with Pele (his ghost only charges $350/hr), so we couldn't sit around and sign any more autographs.

Oh now you've really done it...you just wait until we go SY and my kid dominates!
