climate change news; as bad as I knew, but still...

As I read this, there is a big debate on nextdoor for Arlington about the county’s new composting program. Many ppl are complaining about it, don’t even want to try it, for basically BS reasons (it’s going to smell, they should go back to collecting glass first, the bin will clutter up my kitchen, etc). If people won’t even TRY a healthy environmental practice that the county is rolling out for FREE…well, that’s your answer right there. People will never stop consuming, and as long as they aren’t the ones being directly impacted, many just don’t…care.

Where is the evidence that the entire planet will be uninhabitable for humans in 30-40 years?

If you actually believe this, you could make financial arrangements to sell futures contracts on all your assets, with the transfer to take place 1/1/61.

Otherwise, you're full of shit.

Are you serious? It will indeed be uninhabitable. Perhaps not 100% of earth will be but significant portions of populated areas for sure. Just look at what's happening already. The wildfires. Drought. Heat. The extreme weather patterns. Are you an idiot? Can you imagine what will be in just another 10 years? We were just on holiday out west and I actually think in 10 years, the significant negative impacts will take its toll. I just don't see people living in the same way as we do today. Less opportunities to travel, fly, food options, etc. I say 10 years it will look a lot different.

I’m asking for links to scientific evidence, aside from your quite rude opinion/reply. How do you expect people to listen to your concerns seriously if you reply in such a ridiculous fashion?

Out west, the sky is a flat grayish white and the sun is an orange smudge. Day after day after day.

If yard waste, leaves and branches could go in, that would be great.

None of this stuff matters!!

The only steps that could even potentially alter the trajectory even a little bit would be massive and immediate changes in major third world countries, mostly China and India. Essentially the termination of industry almost entirely in those countries. That’s it.

Unfortunately the climate change community overlaps quite a bit with the refusal to hold poor or brown folks accountable community. So round and round we go. Much more fashionable to castigate McMansions and SUVs (a rapidly growing proportion of which are carbon neutral…).

Wrong. The USA is only second to China in terms of total carbon output. Not even India produces more than is even when they have many times the population numbers.

I also would love to hear how you cam blame China and India when adjusting for population. Per capita is the only number that lends any true insight towards which countries are the largest producers of carbon.

Maybe you actually are just a little bit racist for posting the nonsense above.
