While GU has its share of ugly buildings, I'd say that the quad - in particular, Healy, Old North, and Dahlgren Chapel -- and White-Gravenor are classic and beautiful. |
No kidding. Gorgeous! |
So what is it about libraries? I haven't read every post but right off the bat it seems like a lot of these ugly buildings are libraries. |
Me too. I don't hate all Brutalist buildings, and they sometimes make for cool interiors. |

Brutalist architecture at its finest/worst. |
Let's try again. |

I like this one too! Would want to explore inside. |
The engineering center at CU Boulder |
I went to Northwestern and we had a brutalist library too. Super ugly and a huge pain to find a classroom in. Just all these big flat useless concrete spaces too. If you google it the first results might be the music library, which is actually pretty. Keep scrolling until you find the concrete honeycomb. |
The brutalist architecture actually quite worked in Loki for the TVA. |
Nope, that one’s a classic. Signed, Native Arlingtonian |
