The normal kid

I still don’t understand why AP classes are pushed in many high schools. They’re college level - so why aren’t they saved for college and why are high school students judged at 15/16/17 on whether or not they can be successful in a college level class? It’s absurd.

Parent of two "normal" kids and proud of it. Both just finished or about finished with all EA apps at wonderful colleges that are matches for them and the "right fit". Already received acceptances from some schools (what some would consider safety schools, but still good schools nonetheless).

I totally agree with above post. One kid is taking all honors and one single AP senior year, but due to very poor first years of HS GPA will never reach 3.5...but SAT score close to 1400. The other [IEP] kid has no honors/APs but does dual enrollment courses - upward trend on grades and excellent Q1 grades and will finally reach 3.0 GPA, plus excellent test scores achieved that are in line with match schools.

I'll add....I was the normal kid...who went to a no-name school then transferred after one year to a larger more well know school then completed paralegal cert at Georgetown. Now happy with a very fulfilling career and work-life balance.

I am imparting this knowledge to my kids..."it doesn't matter where you start, but where you finish and what you do with it".

Of course you don’t want to hear this, you’re in denial, you’ll cling to the fake A’s, and you’ll send junior off to some open door degree mill anyways for your ego. Then you’ll keep it hush hush when he fails out.

Wow, you are not a nice person.

PP, don't listen to this ugly troll poster. Talk to your guidance counselor. Kiddo will be better than fine.

My two normal kids go to Alabama and WVU. They are both very happy with their choices.
