How far along is your HS rising senior on college apps?

Ugh, this whole process is ridiculous. Luckily, my dd had a school on her list that required no essay, and it's rolling admission. So she sent that one and actually already heard back. That's a big relief.

However, still waiting for rewrites on the common app and just found out that our school wants 4 weeks lead time for requesting transcripts! Ran over and put in the request yesterday. Our school is so bad about making us aware of everything that needs to be done. I thought I was keeping up with everything, but that one slipped by me.

Hope to have everything in by Dec. 1

Yes-if you apply binding early decision, you have less chance of getting merit funding. (They don't have to seduce you, they had you at hello

Common app... done except for transcripts from counselors that we'll get this week. Coalition app...same. Drafts of all supplemental essays (seems like every school has one)... done but still need revisions.
But parents, what about YOU?
FAFSA? We've done it and submitted already.
CSS Profile? 80% done and planning to finish tonight.
Yes, I know a student could fill these financial things out, but you still have to provide most of the info, so it's really on your "to do" list!

Not doing FAFSA or CSS. Won't get financial aid.

You might need it for merit aid if your kid is applying to schools that offer it.

I think I posted earlier in this thread that we hired a consultant to help with college apps. DD applied to 16 colleges. Got in ED to her first choice. Top 10 school I think.

Best 5K we EVER spent. DD agreed with hiring the consultant. It had to be someone with whom she could relate. She spent her summer b4 SR HS year working on her apps. It's mostly online so being organized with go*gle docs, cutting and pasting -- maximizes one's efforts makes it all more manageable. And we didn't make her get a job. For her, school is her job and she seems ok with that.

We did fill out the FAFSA & CSS online. DD typed and I through out numbers. We aren't going to qualify for financial aid so figured #'s didn't have to be exact.

I'm confused. Is your DD a senior this year? I did not think ED decisions were out anywhere yet.

Sorry -- my DD is a freshman in college this year. I was just reminiscing about last year.
