Why don’t teen boys work on cars anymore?

Accidentally hit submit.

Anyway, condos, apartments, and TH developments aren’t particularly compatible with car repair. Even with SFH, lots of people live in developments with HOAs that frown upon such things as cars on blocks in driveways.

He’s also makes my sons help him with replacing garbage disposals, build cabinets, and tile the bathroom. He’s trying to instill in them the freedom and cost savings of being able to do things yourself. But he is different than most fathers in Fairfax County, I know.

I have to admit that I do find it super sexy when men know how to do "manly" things like fix cars. I'm white collar myself, but I find it unappealing that so many white collar men can't do these things. My husband is a rarity in that he is an attorney but also very handy wth repairs. He grew up blue collar though.

Np I would also say that kids in general do not have the "excitement" for getting their driving license or getting their own car. Hence, they have no desire to work on cars.

They don’t tinker with cars but my car crazy DS loves to tinker with his computers as do many of his friends. He knows the specs and all about motherboards, graphics cards, etc just as well as he can name the specs for any super and hypercar. He also built his own desktop and can swap out computer parts, operating systems, etc.

Since we drive Teslas, he would love to get his hands on their software.... haha! No.

And I do not limit his screen time or take away his phone for not eating . He’s in middle school.
