Sometimes pointing out the truth isn't going to be popular. I'm sure the behavior of the SFS teacher who yelled at Scott Pruitt might be unpopular with a lot of people, but in that case, I applaud her courage for dropping a needed truth bomb. |
No chance that this is true. Many folks, including myself, have already copped to making the joke often on DCUM. |
+1 |
Scott Pruitt was a sleazy, environmentally harmful jerk, but the Sidwell head of school also should have dismissed that teacher. |
You forgot 'social justice.' ![]() |
The PP was talking about the Quaker "SPICES." I think integrity is now inclusion? |
Yes. Indeed. |
In 30 years, I think people will be more concerned about the devastating effects of climate change than whether or not Scott Pruitt got yelled at in a restaurant. I'd rather that the HoS focus on creating a better carpooling plan than firing a teacher for letting her life speak. |
Have you ever heard of proportionate response? Firing a teacher for advocacy, however uncivil and perhaps inappropriate, is not proportionate. |
Letting her life speak? More like letting it all hang out there, unfiltered and uncouth.. Teachers should set an example of civil behavior for their students. Sidwell can do better. |
Everything changed when the Pope and the Obamas sent their kids there. |
The Pope? |
Ok - so when people point things out about GDS, should they be called anti-Semitic? That dissonance (that it's ok for GDS boosters to bash everyone, but anyone who criticizes GDS gets tarred) was the point of the anti-Quaker comment. As you say, 'sometimes pointing out the truth isn't going to be popular'. That's true, and it's also not anti-Semitic. |
Let's test this theory: GDS has no greater ability to get kids in Harvard than other schools in this area. Thoughts? |
