You can do more than hope - you can contact your House members in the General Assembly and ask them to support the bill when it gets to the House. If you don't know who your representatives are, go here: www.mgaleg.maryland.gov then click on the Legislators tab then click on Who represents me? (in the upper right of the page) and type in your address. |
Your kid never gets hot in June or September? Amazing how a few days in one direction makes such a a difference. |
Exactly. Let the businesses in ocean city decide. |
| The bill has passed the Senate |
Look all an earlier start will mean is more obscure religious holidays and teacher enrichment days. Your kid is the least likely to benefit. |
I usually ignore people's bad grammar on this board, but this post is exactly why kids should be 'swetting' in class and not going on 'spring brake'. Ugh. |
Also have to realize that they did not change the date when HS sports starts practice in the summer. Families can still not go away after 8/8 (I think this year) if their kids do sports...and it is a very long time to provide transportation to the school at odd times of day. |
Correct that MPSSAA did not change the process they use to determine when sports start, but they use a moving date. This year that date is August 14th. To see future dates visit this site https://www.mpssaa.org/assets/1/6/Proj_State_Tourn_Dates_18-26.pdf |
Hooray! |
"Obscure religious holidays" = "religious holidays I don't observe" |
I'd be willing to venture that English isn't this posters first language... your sanctimony is disgusting. -- Fingers crossed this gets pushed through. |
Good to know that is much later than it has been in recent years. Only 3 weeks of using leave to drive and maybe we can go on vacation! |
this! ITA. |
No they are religious holidays that the government and work places do not observe. If everything else was closed on those days fine but somehow MCPS is special and needs to be the ONLY place closed on those days. |
Oh, like the weekend from the Friday before Easter to the Monday after Easter, for example? That closure is required by state law. |
