OP, would you be up for doing the same as the other women? Doing a bunch of household work? I agree with the PP who said you would no longer be treated as a guest. Maybe that trade-off would be worth it to you in order for your family to have the experience. I'd be pretty irritated with doing laundry if I knew that for a small amount of money I could outsource it. And I wouldn't want to be washing floors and all the other stuff that needs to get done really frequently because of the dust, etc. But it would be a unique experience, and your son could get to learn some of the language and really bond with his Indian relatives. What do you think about the heat issue? It gets damned hot there in summer! Does your husband's family belong to a club or have some other access to a pool, or other means of cooling off in the heat the way we have here? Air conditioning? |
Me, too! Do it! You will be living my dream. |
Because it's a beautiful country full of interesting experiences. OP, I'm starting to think you're an anti-Indian troll. |
Breathe.... |
+1. |
| No because I’d be afraid my spouse would not want to return to the US at the end of the year. |
Tons of people? Where are all these people living in India without family because I don't see anyone besides your family and half the Indian Americans are telling me hell no don't live in India. The quality of life is much worse here. You haven't been to India and you are very dramatic. |
Aren't you the one who WANTS to live in India? There are 1.4 billion people in India. There are an estimated 20-30k Americans living in India permanently. Plenty of people here are saying you SHOULD do it. I wouldn't do it because I feel like young childdhood is approximately 50% cleaning things up but that doesn't mean I think it would be ridiculous that you or someone else would be making a different choice. This is such a strange argument. YOU thought moving to India would be a good idea and asked about it, got a fairly mixed set of responses which I think makes sense because it takes someone with an adventurous spirit to live in a foreign country with young children, and now you're MAD at me for saying you seem like a jerk for not comprehending why someone would visit India? You are confusing. Good luck with your life. |
| Child rape, and rape in general is a huge problem in India and not getting better. That alone would keep me from moving. |
Visiting and living are 2 different things. After reading the responses on here and recently getting sick I have decided NOT to live in India. You would have to be crazy to live here. |
Yep. Just as I suspected. OP is a troll. Just waiting for the anti H1B rants. |
If it was so crazy and you made up your mind not to go then why ask in the first place? |
+1 Bizarre turn of tone from OP. |
You know, there is this called a JOB which sometimes people find in other countries, more lucrative than in their own. Also for some adventure. |
