A solution for military families in dc?

I am the PP. Yes. Once our oldest will be college bound (can't move until HS is done), we're moving back into the city. We're tired of the long commute and want to spend more time with our youngest one. We probably could not afford to buy my bachelorette pad now, I bought it in early 2000s.

I don't think we're gaming the system at all??? WTF people???
