I think Fusion was helpful but definitely screen the teachers!!!!

Do you mind sharing which campus?

Wondering if anyone has experience or insights on the Alexandria Campus? Looking at it for a 9th grader who is really smart, but has anxiety/depression.

I think the fusion model is highly UNDER rated. It works so well for a large subset of kids that thrive with quiet, individual instruction and acceptance. No I don’t work for the school. But I have looked at all of the alternatives and talked to many many happy parents. There are weak teachers at every fancy school in the nation. There are weak teachers everywhere. But when one strong teacher connects deeply with your kid it can be a lifelong anchor and motivator. For some kids it’s simply a good fit. And that’s a big deal.

It has been life changing for a family friend. Child had severe depression and school refusal. I don’t want to post too much identifying info but the whole family feels like fusion has saved their child/put child back on track. This is for high school

I attended a Fusion graduation when my DC was in 11th grade.
Each student has a lead teacher.
Each lead teacher talked about each student at graduation.
And each student came up and talked about their experience at the school.
Totally made me cry.

There are opportunities, but the issue seemed to be when we looked into it that many of the students there have very low socializing needs -- that's part of why they are there. So the "social study room" mostly had kids on their phones.

My kid, who was overwhelmed with the volume of other kids at our public school, did really well socializing at Fusion.

She had a small, but tight group of friends- something she never had before.

What I really appreciated was that the Fusion teachers/leads or the homework cafe staff kept their eyes and ears open to how the kids interacted with each other. My kid's lead helped them navigate the ups and downs of friendship. Once my kid had me sit beside them on the phone while they worked out an issue with their friend. It was great that my kid finally learned how to do that.

Years later, she is still good friends with this group and they get together during college breaks.

I am struggling to get past the sticker shock. There are A LOT of online school choices now, and I just don't know if this program is worth the price. Has anyone had any difficulty transferring out once they enrolled?

Bumping for any recent experiences with the Rockville location. Thanks for sharing.

It is expensive, but I don't think it's fair to compare to online schools, many of which are asynchronous. At fusion, you are working 1:1 with a teacher for 45 minutes for each class. And it's in person.

Rockville has a very caring faculty. Our DC is having a very positive experience there in terms of instruction and a needed esteem boost.

Thank you! This is great to hear. How many classes is your DC taking?

Five because of health issues, but will be ready for a full load next year.
