That happened, just not what most people are talking about here. Both Tuckahoe planning units were supposed to go to Nottingham. Squeaky wheels didn't want Nottingham to take more students even though much of the school was moving to Discovery. They went to office hours and SB meetings and suggested sending the planning units to McKinley. No one at APS thought that was smart, but they still split the planning units up and agreed to send the larger one to McKinley. Then, McKinley started this school year with many more students that APS predicted (shocker) and that is why it's going to be much more crowded than Nottingham.

18:38 - I doubt it's that, as McKinley has long been thought of as a great school. And frankly, houses in and around Westover have been selling at a premium over similar nearby neighborhoods for awhile. (we tried to buy in there and couldn't find anything decent, so we went further north.) The only objection I've ever heard to McKinley is how big/crowded it is.

Glebe had a bad rap for awhile due to being next to Highview Park. Barrett was avoided by some because of the Buckingham apts nearby. But I've never heard of anyone avoiding McKinley for diversity reasons.
