Et Voila and Blue Duck are expensive.

Depends what you get at Et voila. Mussels and frites are $19. They've got a nice burger at dinner too. We ate there a couple weeks ago and had a very reasonable and delicious dinner.

Agree. But, to use the faux boho of Bethesda is a bad example. Virtually every restaurant in downtown Bethesda is laughably over priced and the food tastes as though it was prepared by ex cons trained in a work release program: fried, lumpen, bland offerings. SWEET GREENS? REALLY? More like EXTRUDED YARD WASTE.

OK, you just gave me my morning chuckle.

Shophouse is just awful. The quality of the ingredients is so low and you get so little for your money.

If you like poor service, a loud atmosphere and food that it is just fair. I have a hard time with people that keep recommending chain that are more hype than actually offer good food and service.

Haydee's in Mt. Pleasant and Medium Rare in Cleveland Park.
Moby Dick and Astor.
No to Cactus Cantina.

Love cactus cantina!

Gross! I haven't been back since they tried to serve me a fish taco with fish that had been cooked the week before.

What does it matter if it is a chain? If the food is fresh and tasty and reasonably priced what's your damage? Your foodie cred?

Not PP. I have no issues FF is a chain, but I will never eat there again. Thought is was decent the first few times I ate there. I then had a terrible meal and even worse service. I now agree that it is more hype than anything.

This thread is absurd, and there are no definitive answers, because any time anyone posts a suggestion, haters and detractors come on and say "Gross!" "Too expensive!", or what have you. It's all relative and no one's going to agree on everything or even any one place.

Can't stand Chipotle's spices, I don't consider it a restaurant.

Love the idea of Chipotle, but sometimes their food is incredibly salty. I'm a saltoholic so if it's too salty for me, that's really something.

SSSSHHHHHH don't tell them now they'll all come and there's barely anywhere to park as it is. I want to watch my soccer and drink my mojito in relative peace. Virginians stay away; we have blacks/jews/democrats guarding the entrances.

No, we won't.

OP, your taste in food, whether reasonable or high end, is truly awful.

Agree about the spices at Chipotle! Although I do like their guacamole & chips (in fact, went there the other day for just this.) And I do consider it a restaurant.

I like Shophouse meatballs w/ rice-NO sauce- flavorful enough w/out.
