| That's great! |
| A good compromise. |
|
No, it's just 10 for elementary, 20 for the others

+1 It's a non-solution. |
|
This is the solution that was adopted:
High School 7:45 a.m.–2:30 p.m. 6 hours, 45 minutes Middle School 8:15 a.m.–3:00 p.m. 6 hours, 45 minutes Elementary School Tier 1 9:00 a.m.–3:25 p.m. 6 hours, 25 minutes Elementary School Tier 2 9:25 a.m.–3:50 p.m. 6 hours, 25 minutes |
| I wasn't pushing for a change in the start time, but if you are going to make a change, then make a big change. What they voted for just stupid. |
|
| It's not just about the sleep, it's about high schoolers not standing waiting for a bus in the dark. When you actually have a 14 year old standing on a street without a sidewalk in the dark, you'll understand. |
I have children in both a Tier 1 and a Tier 2. The Tier 1 currently gets out at 3:10 so they added 5 minutes at the end of the day in addition to the 10 minute shift. The Tier 2 gets out at 2:30 so they added 10 minutes to the day. Why is it different? |
Are you sure about that? All the Tier 1 schools I know get out at 3:05. |
|
This is the DUMBEST solution.
Basically, we just hit the snooze button once to start the school day. What a joke. MCPS is awful. |
I'm sure. Starts at 8:50 and gets out at 3:10. |
Good point. |
| I think it will help a lot with my middle schooler next year. It's a change in the bus time (assuming it shifts 20 minutes) from 6:55 to 7:15. At that hour I think any extra time helps. |
The Tier 1 school my child attends starts at 8:50 and ends at 3:05 - Ritchie Park ES. |
