College advising at area privates

If you are into computer science, Harvey Mudd, CMU and MIT are all better than Harvard.

A friend' college senior just got an offer from Facebook for $150k/year and $100k sign on bonus (in stock).

Be aware of who the legacies are in the class. Our counselor told me over and over "not Harvard" even though my daughter had what she needed to apply. I assumed it was because our class had 5 legacies. I told the counselor that my daughter had 2 good reasons to apply and what they were and she acquiesced My child did end up getting in. Legacies all got in plus 2 more. The counselor needs to place the whole class. Help them to market your child and they will find it easier to help you

Look at naviance and find the blob- the group of admits clustered together. If you are in the blob range on the scatter gram then you have a good possibility. My child applied to many schools and pulled her applications when she got into a few she favored. The counselor had asked for this
