We did when I was the primary bread winner - I made mid 70s, paid for a 2 bedroom condo and full time childcare while DH earned about 10k that year and was in serious denial about his spending habits. I should have been more firm, but live & learn.

With DH's new job, we now can afford to live on just his paycheck so my furlough is a bummer but we're better off than most so I don't complain out loud. If this goes on, we will get seriously delayed in buying a home.

More or less, yes we do. We could make it one month on our savings. Maybe two months if we took deferments on our student loans. Maybe longer if we borrowed from family. Things are on track to improve in the next few years, but in the meantime we are on razor's edge. Fortunately DH has a secure job that is not with the government.
