When my daughter went to go in today (very excited, running in) the staff member grabbed her and held her restraining her from coming in (there were only two other families at the time).

I wanted to yell "get your hands off my child" but was so shocked. My daughter got scared and started to cry and didn't want to play.

Does this seem weird? The staff member also said "no balls allowed" (she was carrying a stuffed ball).

Very different than the staff who are so friendly on the weekends.

A museum is not for running. The guard should have asked. You go leave until you teach your child how yo behave.

You really resurrected an 18-month old thread to add *THIS*?!?

The OP's child is probably much better behaved in public by this time and this isn't a problem anymore. Seriously, didn't you even look at the time stamp of the post right before yours to see that it was dated July 2011?

OP here, I was shocked to see my thread linked here on theNational Gallery thread. My child is now a three year old - and while we still go to the BZ, the guard mentioned no longer works there and my child is much better behaved.

I've read so many of these responses that I missed from 18 months ago - and I'm shocked - and glad I didn't see them.

For those who do go to the Building Zone, it is a wonderful place for kids to play - and I would encourage you to visit. I did ask the Museum staff about running in the Great Hall last year and for the record, it is allowed.
