Alternative to food delivery

If either spouse works in the office on Fridays they could also pick up a pizza, a rotisserie chicken, or something equally simple on the way home.

Any set up where everyone orders something different is going to be way more expensive than a quick family meal.

No, she needs to redo the entire house.

Why not hire a personal chef?

I don't want to cook or have a big clean up on Friday. I usually pick up Peruvian Chicken with sides, bulgogi from a local Korean market, or Wegmans meals (I like their salmon). All three are super close to my office, so it's only 5-10 extra minutes out of my night.

OP said they're trying to cut costs. Don't think a personal chef will help with that.

I see postings in my neighborhood Facebook groups for people that sell holiday food or do food prep. You should be posting around by where you live, and see if anyone is interested in a trial run to do some cooking for you on a weekly or biweekly basis.

Batch cooking (making extra and freezing), simple meals (raviolis, quesadillas, eggs/toast, etc.) and takeout we pickup ourselves is how we manage this.

Most of these suggestions work for people that have normal jobs; not higher billers that work 24x7. OP also has massive unexpected expenses from the house and they need both incomes to address that.

Have some empathy. They are b/w a rock and a hard spot still wanting to eat decent healthy food.

IMO a retired person is perfect to help both sides meet their needs.

They are pretty expensive and not that food. Mac and cheese for $20.[/quoteI

I like the made to order protein bowls and I can make 3 meals out of them. They're $10-$12.00. Super healthy too.
