I disagree with your premise. I find that people are drinking less across the board, all generations included. Last time I was in a restaurant, I was happy to find a whole section dedicated to non-alcoholic cocktails. It's great for the people who don't like alcohol, like me and my family. |
As others have pointed out this is actually prevalent in both White and Asian populations. Both races tend to be more on the reserved side, and a drink or two let's people push past personal and social barriers to form closer bonds. Obviously some people take this to excess, but without a drink or two, lots of people posting here never would have been born because their Grand-papi wouldn't have gotten up the nerve to flirt with the cute girl in the corner. Other races lack inhibitions in general, and don't need alcohol to social. |
DP. Right, rap/hip hop music never talks about drinking alcohol. No gin and juice, no Chandon, no Couvosier. They don’t need it. |
Do you generally find rappers/rap fans to need to drink to become social? Or do they drink for entirely different reasons? Say as a means of self-medicating? To "chill?" |
| To the PP who wanted to make alcohol a "white" thing, alcohol is also very popular among South Asian men. The whole Indian businessmen and whiskey phonemena is real. And with the growth of the Indian middle class, alcohol consumption has also gone up. |
