We have a house phone that uses VOIP. We use magic jack for the home phone service and it costs $50 a year. I think it is very handy to have the service and I think it is dirt cheap.

VOIP doesn’t work when there is no internet. That’s why PP wants a real landline.

The landline is only the last mile to your house. Voice calls are carried over the Internet after it gets to the colo. No one has dedicated voice trunks anymore AFAIK.

Funny you don't have a clue. I'm well educated and retired from a very successful tech career Sue. There are no jobs for kids graduating from college with stem/tech degrees unless they are se asian.
