Do you use a “wealth manager” or DIY?

I have a hard time understanding how a wealth manager is ever a good use of money.

Index funds are also up more than 12% this year. I doubt that anyone is doing better with a wealth manager than they would be on their own.

It seems like just throwing money away for no good reason.
