Since when is dancing not Christian?

Footloose

Ah, educated by fiction, makes sense.

I went to a Catholic wedding in real life this past weekend and there was plenty of dancing.

NCS Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School all have FOCUS in concert with STA. From what I can tell, it's not inclusive of all (only kids who identify as white [even one who is clearly mixed, but OK] are in FOCUS), but "perhaps" that's not intentional. There was an email or message that went out to all parents welcoming anyone who would like to attend. That being said, even though I am a Christian, it felt like it was nothing more than another way for rich, elite, white families to curate a specific type of group of friends for their kids (for dating and even possibly marriage in the future), and in reality had very little, if anything at all, to do with actually being a bible study group. In fact, I would say some of the NCS girls who attend are the daughters of the "mean moms" click. Hard to believe those same moms would enroll their girls in a group that's actually about true Christian values (and not this crazy MAGA Christian thing that's taken root). That was enough for it to be a turn off for me.

You obviously do not have a student in upper school at NCS or STA but have decided to spread completely false information. Upper school Focus at STA/NCS is full of non-white students and one of the Focus staff is not white.

Are any of the non-white Black? Nope! Not one Black US family even knew what the heck it was. LOL. Heck 99% of the Black families has nothing but raised eyebrows at the mention of it. And I have kids across all three divisions and have been on The Close for 10 years. So yeah I’m pretty sure my perspective is accurate, but carry on.

Yes they are Black and so is the Focus staff worker. Maybe your upper school student should attend and they can report back to you. Not sure why you want to argue about this when you openly admit your students have never attended.

Yeah, that’s a lie. None of the Black parents even knew what the heck it was. LOL.

I am a White, Catholic, conservative, but until this thread I had never heard of Focus either. Not everything is about race.

Why do progressives feel the need profanity (either written out or abbreviated like "WTF") in their posts. I'm guessing that they think that it communicates sophistication, it actually does the opposite.

Who said everything was? At some point someone said the group lacked diversity, and I acknowledged that. That doesn’t mean there aren’t white people who don’t know anything about it. White people stay up in arms about non-white people discussing race. LOL.

And conservatives don’t curse? This is ridiculous. Right about conservative is synonymous with a curse word.

pay attention on DCUM to how many progressive posts curse compared to conservative. it is way more. The title of this thread is one example, admittedly a sample of one, so keep watching and see what you see.

“wtf is focus” is alliterative and captures your attention. Maybe you’re Gen X, but younger parents don’t see “cursing” as some sort of moral failure.

it's not a moral failure, but it is sort of like farting - it is annoying to those around you and not a good look. it's low class, sort of like tattoos. but progressives seem to think it is cool and chic.

I’m not arguing that Footloose is a documentary or anything, but I do want to point out that the anti-dance guy is not Catholic.

Extremely religious Protestant communities that think dancing is a sin do exist, but they are not common.

Baylor U lifted its ban on dancing in 1996.

Hilarious. Nothing about a tattoo is low class. People get them for a lot of different reasons. You may not be a Puritan, but you are a judgmental @sshole.

This thread went way off the rails. Does anyone know more about what Focus actually is? We are mainline Protestant and I would like to understand if it aligns or is more evangelical. It is hard to tell from the online materials. Thank you.
