House cost 1.2 million and we put about 500k into it, now paid off.

Why such a cheap house with your net worth & HHI?

Buying a "cheap house" and investing the rest of the money is one way people get rich. Mauve you don't know that because you are not rich

I grew up in a house worth 3x that and went to private schools. I don’t even need to work. I can just live off inherited money

Don't feel rich, definitely comfortable. We save 400K a year (mostly pretax in deferred compensation/401K).Our jobs are unstable in tech. We both have suffered a layoff in the last 3 years, fortunately found another one in less than 6 months. I personally have layoff anxiety, Don't know if we get hit by layoffs again we will be able to get to the same comp given our age and the state of tech industry

If you don't feel rich, I think you're doing life wrong.

It is like Trump saying groceries is an old fashioned word. So incredibly out of touch. This person is upper class not UMC. They have no money management skills, just a lot of money to hide their ignorance in personal finance. So many stupid but well educated people on this board.

NW: $5M
$1.3M in 2020; now $2M in 2025

You save 5x more every year than the median household and you don’t feel rich????? People like this on this thread have a mental illness. This is a huge (but not only) reason why the Democrats lost. So.out.of.touch.

I’m 29 and don’t need to work a day in my life. I have a trust fund and an inheritance of close to 24 million dollars (in addition to the yearly payout from my trust). I also have siblings to help me out if things go wrong (who receive the same inheritance as I do)

Life feels meaningless doing nothing. I’m considering going back to school to become a lawyer or a nurse practitioner. Idk. I only have a Bachelor’s degree and never use it.

HHI: $240k (One teacher, one retired teacher-now substitute)
NW: No clue
SFH cost $428k in 2009

My definition of rich is not having to work for a living.
I work for my money so I’m not rich (yet)

240k in retirement accounts,
1.1M house with 200k equity.
31 years old
Earn 185k

PP and well I now pronounce myself rich!

Quit my middling p/t job a few years ago and now consider myself retired at 55.

DH working and was always the breadwinner but recently the tide has turned; I just received an inheritance.

Many people meet that definition here but claim to be MC or UMC. They just have to scale back and it would still mean an expensive house and multiple vacations. The problem is they always want more. There is a difference.

I want a husband who has more money than me. And barely any men do. So they’ll have to be in their 50s or something. I find older men more attractive anyway

Don’t all the billionaires support Trump? Including the Saudi and tech billionaires. I saw an article showing how Trump has more billionaires and millionaires in his cabinet than any previous president.

why do you want a husband who has more money than you? That seems to significantly reduce your options.
