Should have added that some employees will be eligible for a $1,000 bonus but not clear who is eligible for that so unclear final cost for that.

Stop being ignorant. No such thing was said. Employees who are represented by FEU, which is the teachers union that represents all the instructional positions whether you’re in it or not, would now receive a 6% raise. All other employees like administrators who are not part of or represented by FEU would get 5%.

You just proved PP’s point. The Monday early release days were NOT about Benchmark. The trainings related to the VA Literacy Act are NOT Benchmark trainings. They are modules created by the state that take 27 hours to complete.

Ok . . I can do 27 hours in one week after 4PM. I don't get winter break, spring break, summer break either. Why does school have to shut down? This is so incredibly lazy and absurd I cannot believe parents would accept this without marching.

Wednesday is the worst possible day to do it, as tests are usually on Thursdays or Fridays. Mondays would be best.

Perhaps because so many teachers already put in 27 extra hours a week of planning and grading time.

What you’re suggesting would be 40+27+27.

I’m a retired teacher, now sub. This is a topic of discussion in the school today and so far I haven’t heard anyone (office staff, specialists, teachers) say they want early release Wednesdays.
