West Potomac HS situation

This is one of the largest school systems in the country, sweetheart. Look up how much violence happens in the other 10. Just as much.

PLEASE stay in your private school though, we don't want your kind (racist) to go to our schools.

Teachers may not be allowed to intervene. The safety protocol is to notify an SRO

Sure, I understand that but to nonchalantly walk past, literally throw up your arm to take a pic and keep walking is awful. He doesn’t stop, say anything, do anything. No instructions whatsoever. No “stop”, no calls out for the SRO or anyone else. It’s a male teacher, with a mustache and large belly, it’s definitely a teacher.

Then when the video shows the student who is stabbed there is one, ONLY one adult standing there and he’s just yelling “ambulance”. He’s not kneeling down to see if kid is alive, or ok, or applying pressure to stop the bleeding. It’s not even clear who he’s talking to, all the kids walking past? No one is in control and several kids are laughing.

I thought cell phones in Virginia public schools were banned during the school day.

Do you know why an adult didn't touch him? Because parents in this region are SO f***ing litigious that somebody would try to sue that adult for putting their hands on that kid. That's why. Because. Of. People. Like. You.

Do we know which kid is in custody? Based on the video it appears the stabbing victim is also the main aggressor. Though the kid with the knife should face charges/get expelled simply for bringing a knife to school as well

Say STOP, make noise, re-direct. They don't have to break up the fight but they can try and diffuse it before it escalates more. Just try. They are supposed to be the adult and model some respectable behavior. And for no one to render aid. This could be the difference between life and death by having someone stop the flow of blood. It's absoultely disgusting that we could stand there and watch, maybe take a video, and then do nothing? As a society we can't even render aid? I saw the video. I hope the boys get through this, my heart goes out to them.

b*ch, how do you know what the teacher did next? Maybe they called the cops immediately after going off frame. You're a wretched POS, you know?

Have some respect, you nasty, nasty human.

Yes, you are correct. Many teachers have said it's #1.

This is why they should NOT be. I want my kid to be able to call me when this madness happens to tell me they're safe.

Oh my god. You again.

Well, by all means sign up to be a teacher then! You seem to have it all figured out.

White male

Did we watch the same video? I saw not one Caucasian to include the beer bellied male staff member who strolls past.

Also: Dr Reid made a complete ass of herself llve during the press conference in conjunction with Chief Davis: when pressed by a parent exactly why no students could be dismissed for hours after the stabbing (circa 9:30) she responded and I’m paraphrasing her, “WE NEEDED ALL 4 LUNCH PERIODS TO CONTINUE”

I repeat, she suggested that students were unable to be released until AFTER ALL 4 LUNCHES WERE SERVED

Absolutely abhorrent and shameful response from Dr Reid.

Hell hath no fury like angry FCPS parents. You’ve done it now, Dr Reid. We should expect a better explanation and at the very least a retraction.

This is one of those annoying things - they can’t “count” it as a school day if school lunch isn’t served or something. I agree, wrong thing to be concerned about. But the administration is hyper fixated on attendance.

Call it a school day but parents should absolutely be allowed to pick up their children. I’m pissed as a HS parent and will absolutely be writing to the school board.

Land the helicopter, mama. It was under control. No more stabbings.

No you wouldn't. You have no idea what you would have done in this situation, But you would have been so scared, that you would not say a single thing. I know it. You know it. Everybody here knows it. And we'd all react the same way. Shut up.

Why complete the lunch period, so FCPS could get another day in the books. Sorry, too many people have seen the video, SRO didn’t get there in less than a minute. Not blaming the SRO it is a big campus.

But FCPD and FCPS shouldn’t be patting themselves on the back. Teacher saw the event unfold and did nothing.

Time to bring back reform schools and put the violent trouble making kids in them. Give them a dose of discipline and a chance to correct their behavior.

Hope this turns into another schools no what is best for your child moment, as it did for McAuliffe, parents should have been able to take their kids out of school.

Time for Reid and the school board to go.

I’m a teacher and I’m not about to get involved when a student has a knife.

Do you want violent kids to remain in school? Or be expelled?

Crickets from the teacher. Why?

I am a teacher. Violent students deserve an education but it doesn’t have to be in person. They can do online schooling IMO.

Maybe because not everyone is on DCUM for hours a day.

Thank you. Fight. Fight. Fight.
The kids are worth it.
