What are your top choices heading into private K decision day?

I would go with Dalton, but we had no interest in the hill schools. Especially for lower school.

HM is excellent. Amenities and space are needed for young kids. City schools are great academically but I didn’t want my kids to play in a small rooftop or a closed off street for recess. Not the best air to breathe.
Safety around the area is great at HM.
Lobby bus pick up and drop has been amazing. Esp in this cold. Yes it is an added cost.

I think both are great schools but very different. My dc started K at HM a few years ago. I didn’t consider space as a factor but I am glad I chose HM. Dc loved playing sports during recess and enjoyed having snow day in the open field.

I would pick Dalton as it appears to be the more difficult school to be admitted. HM has a large entry point at middle school.

HM’s main entry point is middle school. Dalton’s main entry point is K. I think Trinity’s main entry point is high school since it doubles its class size.

We are on the waitlist of Trinity, Riverdale, Collegiate and HM. Anyone here knows if waitlists move and how we should think about these waitlists, especially Trinity?

I’d be so worried about another scandal arising at Dalton while my child was there.

Doubtful trinity is going to move. I have heard of the other 3 moving last year . I would pick one of them and put all your efforts into letting them know you are attending if taken off.

Do you have acceptance anywhere else ?

This is not a good reason to pick a school.

We have acceptance at another K-8 so that would be our backup.

Picking a school based on this is equivalent to picking a school solely based on which school sends more kids to HYP in one year.

Do they hint anything on the waitlist letter? Something like High Priority or anything else?

Trinity Wl unlikely to move because they give more offers than enrollment. HM has high priority wl. Riverdale also seems to waitlist everyone. If you are high priority list for those two that’s better chance.
