We had a percentage written into the paperwork our agent gave us but when we told her we weren’t offering buyer fees upfront she erased it. I think they’re preying on sellers who don’t know any better. Education is key. |
awesome. Good job guys |
I will add that we are in our late 70s....so they likely think they can scam us. |
What state are you filing suit in? Are you suing the agents or their brokerages? |
Cant reveal too much but going after agents AND brokerages. All crooks engaging in collusion, price fixing, misrepresentation, etc. |
We are doing the same thing as we found out that our listing agent refused to accept two independent offers from buyers who didn't have representation. |
what a tool. I am glad you pushed for it, PP. |
Wow that should be enough to strip a person's licensure. What an absurdly unethical thing to do. |
How could agents possibly think that this abdication of professional responsibility does not come to light? Seriously. In this day and time. Man they are dumber than rocks for sure. |
Lots of this stuff happens in RE industry regularly and agents are making it much much worse. Started suing them because at that price, they should have more skin in the game. |
RE agents are “professional” ?. We expect way too much of them. There is nothing professional about damn RE agents - same as any other salesperson out there. |
We are doing the same thing and our lawyer thinks that we have a good case. We are suing both the brokerage and also the agent personally. |
Hopefully all this lawsuits eliminate all these crooks . I wanted to buy unrepresented and listing agent started to push her coworker .
I said I am not interested , then she started saying so how you gonna buy then? I said I will send offer , they look clueless . So you gonna do everything by yourself and contract and closing ? I said yep . I told her I will send you my terms you just fill the standard form with your info and my terms that is it . Seller paid 4 % . Her rate was 2.5 and the I guess seller singed contract 1.5 to buyer agent . I told them I paying your asking price minus buyer agent fee. She agreed but seller paid 4 % anyways She signed the contract . Agent was super happy and push my offer to make 4%. |
sue the agent and the seller. Easy slam dunk and decent settlement. |
Yeah, that's a serious issue. DH and I are both lawyers and bought our last home without an agent, and went to see a house we fell in love with and the listing agent made it clear she would not accept an offer from us without an agent. We desperately wanted the house and the offer deadline was one hour after the open house, so we called a Realtor who had sold multiple properties for DH years ago and she put in the offer for us. But we were furious. As an attorney, the idea that some real estate agent literally would not take the offers to the client infuriates me. |
