Why does the right wing suddenly love anchor babies?

A child has to turn 21 before they can petition on behalf of a noncitizen parent. Do you think Vivek’s parents were planning to go out of status and wait around 21 years before being eligible for citizenship?

Or go out of status and use their “anchor baby” to avoid deportation?

What matters here is intent.

If that's your argument then apparently anchor babies are not a thing because according to you, it isn't ever worthwhile to wait 21 years.
Your argument really doesn't make any sense.

The MAGAs are trying to do a "Schroedinger's Anchor Baby" gambit here.

No. What we are talking about here is people with no status (illegal, undocumented, overstay) hoping to avoid deportation via a stay of removal. They aren’t even necessarily trying to get citizenship themselves anymore. Just not be deported, and their USC children receive benefits. This does not apply to Vivek’s situation.

DACA applicants do indeed seek permanent legal status including citizenship.

Sure but that’s a minority of who we are talking about.

No one likes Vivek. Very annoying man but he will serve a minor purpose and be tossed aside.

Being in charge of improving the efficiency of the entire federal government doesn't seem like a minor purpose.

They’re not there to improve anything except their own pocketbooks.
