In praise of Olive Garden and Hampton Inn; praise YOUR lowbrow favorites!

Does anyone remember back when that Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson said her impoverished family loved going to Olive Garden to celebrate special occasions when she was growing up. And then Olive Garden crapped all over her unsolicited endorsement of their restaurant chain because they claimed she didn't represent their values as a family restaurant?

Lower class families celebrating a special occasion IS Olive Garden's primary customer base. I was so turned off by Olive Garden's snooty attitude toward their customer that I haven't been to an Olive Garden since 2008.

Aw I remember Kendra. She was so sweet and innocent in her own way.

I haven’t flown in way too long and those were so good. I was also impressed that one of our Southwest flights had phone chargers in the seats.

I don't remember this incident, but do remember Kendra. I have not been to an Olive Garden (didn't grow up in an area with one or ever lived somewhere close to one, not a snootiness thing) but will continue to boycott them in solidarity. What aholes.

I. Love. IKEA.

I am legit fascinated by the PP who’s eating freaking rainbow trout in a furniture store. But not in a judgey way. It makes me want to try it.

I am not one of those people, mainly because I am too full of meatballs to try anything else.

When my kids were little and sometimes annoying, and my DH was working weekends, an afternoon in the ball pit while I "shopped" and then picked them up to eat meatballs was like a mini vacation.

My family still celebrates special occasions at Olive Garden for the kids. My mom used to take us to Red Lobster whenever she had extra money.

Personally I love Cracker Barrel - pancakes and shopping? Yes please! Down in Va Beach we also go to Village Inn for breakfast.

My favorite waffle tees and sweatpants are from Walmart. My house slippers are from Costco and my plants are from Trader Joe’s.

We also do a lot roadtrips and love Hampton Inn too.

Guess I’m a happy basic B

Also, I had Golden Corral once when I was with my husband and young kids in an area with not a lot of other choices and it was perfect… I still think about that meal 15 years later!

Another low brow things I prefer: drugstore makeup for most things is sufficient.

Buffets in general are my “lowbrow” fave. Remember Sizzler? Being able to pile everything you want on your plate, getting ten entrees, second helpings! Anybody who doesn’t love that is living a sad life, imho.

I love the Pennsylvania chain Hoss's. Including the dessert bar.

Chili’s. If only they still had the original chicken crispers…

+1 And only 400 calories!

$5 Biggie Bag for the win! Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, 4 chicken nuggets, a small fry and a small soda. Our family gets 4 of these for lunch on a road trip!
