Let me count the reasons 1) Because you school may not have a large enough cohort of students consistently to warrant offering the class 2) Because virtual college classes is not the same thing as teaching virtually to ES. 3) Because equity and equality are two different things 4) Because it’s not MCPS responsibility to be concerned with your after school activity schedule |
Actually virtual teaching would be equal to teaching virtually at a HS level. We are not discussing ES and ES can be done well virtually. MCPS has a responsibility to provide classes during school hours, not in the evenings. MCPS has a responsibility to provide the appropriate classes to all students. It is about both equity and equality but also about meeting students needs. If they provide a math track and its a graduation requirement, they need to offer those classes all four years. Yes, we do have a large enough cohort, but they are forced to do Calculus AB, then Calculus BC instead of higher-level math. It's a duplication of classes and a silly track. By your logic no school should offer advanced math. Unreasonable to smart kids trying to get into college. |
