Intellectually rigorous, no athletic scholarships at all. Great new buildings, fantastic dorms. Engineering, accounting, Chinese (one of the best in the country) .. they deliver the goods. And San Antonio is a gem.

Couldn't talk my dd into looking and I don't blame here, but it's a great option

YES, this is a great one

They were making kids take flags down. Hard pass.

Confederate flags?

Regular American flags. Apparently patriotism might be triggering.

Apparently trying to hate others and bring them down without checking the internet is a character failing you have. https://www.foxnews.com/media/trinity-college-removed-american-flags-students-window-allowed-pride-flags.amp

Dayton is Marianist, not Jesuit.
But I can confirm it's a gem.

What makes you say that career outcomes suck at Dayton?

No they don't.

I honestly think ODU did the best open house of the ones we attended. I know people poo poo Norfolk, but I was pretty happy with the campus and vibe there.

I will add Shenandoah to the list. Not too far from DC, small school, good programs.

Can't forget Randolph College. Such an adorable little campus and we loved the Take2 model. It is in a consortium with ULynchburg and Sweet Briar, so there are options if you want to take classes that aren't offered at Randolph.

Same. We visited an open house event at ODU in the fall of 2022 and were very impressed.

From your Fox link:

On Thursday, several university employees showed up outside their dorm room to take down the two flags, one of which was the American flag with the Gadsden "Don't Tread on Me" graphic superimposed on it and the other was a "Thin Line" flag - a black and white American flag with blue, green and red stripes, representing police, military and federal agents, and firefighters, respectively.

These are not official American flags and have become MAGA symbols associated with the insurrection.

But keep on with your bs

It's in a sleepy suburb of 40k between Glendale and Pasadena. When I went there no on went into LA because a) you need a car - public trans is poor there; b) traffic! and c) why would you? Angelenos know there is nothing downtown. We never even went to the beach. Car and traffic issues. We stayed on campus and went to local eateries for burgers and Mexican food

Agree but I think it’s a particular culture that’s not for everyone. If it’s a good fit for your kid, then yes.

Can you elaborate?

Conservative.

Drew. Train station to NYC on campus (about 30 minutes).

For any confused people:

- The hidden gem suggestion — lots of resources, great education, strong outcomes, merit aid — was Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

- nearly 2,000 miles from Trinity University is a an entirely different college, which has nothing whatsoever to do with Trinity University and was not mentioned as a hidden gem.

- On this entirely distinct campus that is wholly irrelevant to this discussion, thousands of miles away, something happened with flags that made Fox News and has zero to do with this discussion.

- Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas is, in fact, a hidden gem.

We're talking Trinity UNIVERSITY. Get this - it's a whole different school. In a different state. With different kids. This has already been pointed out to you at least once. Turn off Fox News for once.

The racist incident you're talking about - kids putting up American flags that has been co-oped by changing it's appearance and it's meaning - happened at Tucker's old college.

I like that lots of people are mentioning Trinity. I feel like their alum group here is really strong (my husband went there - I had never heard of it before I met him). And my high school best friend (Originally from WI) is sending her daughter there this year. It's a really lovely place.

My cousin’s child may wind up there in the end-she went overseas and things are unfortunately not going well.

We oddly wound up nearby on our way to a family wedding in Scranton this past weekend. The area surrounding Dickinson is Trumpy AF. We were in a Ford F150 and I really wanted to fly a ginormous Harris flag from the back of it just to confuse people.

Not sure if the campus and actual town is that bad, but the road going straight north into town was definitely red, red, red.

It’s like PP walked into a room and started p%ssing everywhere and when people were like, “dude, you know you’re in the wrong place, right?” PP got defiant and started shouting, “WELL BUT THERE’S A BATHROOM SOMEWHERE.”
