It sounds like someone they don’t see all summer has lice and hasn’t taken care of it.
Is it mostly one of your kids that starts with it? |

Honestly, this isn't likely depending on how bad the infestation is. By the time the kids are itching, they've had it a month. We just went back to school. More likely it was cleared when you treated it, you picked it up a couple weeks later, and now it is here. Sorry OP it is the pits. |
