Yes. Wish other colleges would also give a break to in-state kids, since colleges are usually getting a lot of state services for their no/limited tax payments. |
yes. and that's Dyson, a contracted college |
There's no world in which someone can be smarter than an Engineer? What a world view! Not questioning the workload...but this is why you "guys" can be real pains. |
My kid is going from OOS. This whole thread is nuts btw |
| get in Hotel management and transfer? |
that's not how this works. that's not how any of this works. |
Hahahaha AEM is by far the easiest major. |
Nope. Very hard to do. Almost no one gets approved… |
Nobody said that. Hopefully you weren't an English major. |
Wrong. My kid applied and was wait listed to human ecology. She is at Cornell now in Arts and sciences as a transfer. |
| What’s the best college for pre-med? |
| Engineering and A&S > rest of colleges |

If he thinks he's a great fit for the school, and it would be his dream to go there, why not ED it? I think they just defer kids to RD if they're not totally sure at that point in time.
My daughter is heading to Cornell in the fall (hotel school) -- a similarly unhooked OOS applicant. I think the more specific schools have a narrower focus in admissions, and if he has a compelling story/reasons for applying to that exact program, he should take his best shot at making that clear in the college-specific essay. Personally, I think all the specific schools are fantastic, and people who scoff at them are ignorant of Cornell's founding principle. Do all these CS majors and their parents eat food that has been grown in a field or served in a restaurant? Do they wear clothing? Read dietary labels? Stay in hotels on vacation? Take their dogs to the vet? |
Dyson faculty wouldn’t get hired at a top 20 business school |
Johnson, which has a separate faculty, is barely top 15 https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-business-schools/mba-rankings |
