This isn’t me, but I wouldn’t judge someone who has to spend an hour+ sitting in DC traffic everyday for wanting to spend that time in a comfortable ride that they love.

But are the $$$ cars really more comfortable? Maybe they just love showing off for an hour in traffic?

Yes they are so much more comfortable.
Now to others who drive older cars. A new car, even a basic one, is typically so much more comfortable than a 10 year old car.
If you are driving a 15 year old car until the wheels fall off because you are trying to save money, it’s fine. Making sacrifices isn’t a bad thing. But claiming that you see no difference in comfort and ride quality compared to a new car is a total lie.

I buy a new car every 8 years.

Meh. I drove a 2006 and a 2013 of the same make and model when the 2013 was only 1-2 years old. Granted that is only a 7 year difference but I didn't notice a difference in comfort.

of course there is no difference if you only drive shitboxes, thinking you are getting a deal now only means paying 50k out of pocket for orthopedic surgery down the line because you sat in traffic for years (over the course of your commute/arrands with the car) on shitty uncushioned seats with no lumbar support.

Wait if you are sitting in traffic why do you need noise cushioning?

It is true though, everyone I know with a Toyota Camry had to get orthopedic surgery. Lines out the door at the surgery centers, the nurses having to beat back the angry Camry drivers, but it's easy because of their bad backs. No BMW drivers in that surgery line though.

Seriously why is DCUM always bragging about how old their cars are, and all I see are luxury cars everywhere?

Lucked out on the timing of upgrading our cars before covid. Previous cars were 11-12 years old so these felt like a huge upgrade!

german luxury is crap, go get yourself a lexus and pay 10k from the base toyota model so you get all the reliability and more comfort.
People here understand they shouldn't cheap out on mattresses because you spend so much time in it. I would add to it a good herman miller office chair and a good reliably luxury car to save yourself from a bad back at an early age.

I mean honestly the best car seat I've ever pumped farts into are in the jeep wranglers, and I've been in some nice cars. I have a standup desk and workout anyway, all sitting is bad for you.
