This admission rate is dropping like a stone this year-105K applicants in the undergrad pool. Whomever is saying Michigan is an easy admit OOS and esp to CS or anything STEM is talking out of their ass. You do the math. Need Ivy level stats for this admittance-and good thing they are getting the high stat NOVA kids that UVA deems unworthy!! |
Still not T20, they game the rankings |
+1. In addition factor in focus on undergrad teaching. You would have a list of solid elite colleges. |
its hard to get into Georgetown period, but it has nothing to do with the area or the public nature of your school. if anything, this area does better because of legacy and faculty/admin parents. |
So... this can go many ways...Elite in sports? Elite in ranking? Elite in STEM? Elite Law Schools?
Grow up |
We have had 0-1 students get into Georgetown at our large public NoVA HS for the past few decades. It's a very hard admit. |
IMO, as a regular person, HYPSM are the elite schools.
And then there's a huge group below it. From Dartmouth to Michigan, from Williams to Notre Dame. Literally about 40 more schools. These are top schools. Most people in Peoria or Paris do not know that Pomona is better or worse than Rice which is better or worse than ND. This includes people making hiring decisions. Here's a thought experiment: Warwick, Leeds, Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, Edinburgh, Kings, UCL, SOAS, St Andrews. I bet you can name the elite schools. But then what? Okay, even if you can take a good guess: how about which are known for CS or Dentistry or IR? |
I know we're all pretty self centered, but you realize this is true at hundreds of high schools across the country, right? |
I don’t consider Yale to be elite anymore.
Harvard, Princeton, Penn, MIT, and Stanford. Top 5. |
Who the f cares for Paris. Part of the problem are these internationals, and Asians who chase the name recall, not the quality of undergrad teaching that forms the rock strong foundation for future success. |
You are an ass. |
+ 1 |
Seek help. Your obsession with WashU is unhealthy and weird. |
Maybe but I’m also correct. |
Agree. Also no ties to WashU. Phenomenal school, definitely T15-20 |
