They're trained to ignore you if you ask to "have [your] number taken off the list." They'll pass it on to another Sales Associate or a new studio entirely. |
Huh. I signed up for a free class, wasn’t my thing and wasn’t bothered by them again. They may have called, but I ignored them and deleted their emails. Not too hard. |
I am not a sorority type, and I don't find the Tenleytown one annoying and cliquey. Sure, some people know each other, but it's not a huge deal. Maybe because it's largely middle-aged moms when I go, and we're not looking to jump-start our social lives?
Anyway, I love it. I was never on a team and to look at me, you might not think I was in good shape, but I can manage those workouts and am very proud of myself. I like being there. Anyone who's curious should definitely check it out! |
OP here, reporting back after a couple weeks. I'm enjoying it, and will keep doing it as long as I'm enjoying it/getting something out of it. I can tell my fitness is improving (nowhere near where I used to be, but it's a good start), and it all feels very doable because you're not doing anything for too long and even the treadmill has variation. I signed up for unlimited and that is keeping me accountable to go 3 times/week, whether I feel like it or not. ![]() As for the feel of the studio, it must be very studio dependent (and/or the times of day I'm going). The studio I'm going to doesn't seem cliquey at all, nobody is making it a big social thing, and everyone who works there is super friendly and not pushy. Yes, they mention things like the transformation challenge at the end of class announcements, but that's the extent of it. Nobody is approaching me individually to upsell me anything. There are definitely people there who don't have the OTF HR monitors, nobody cares. |
Good for you! My experience has been about the same as yours. |
I tried a free class and I liked it but I dislike treadmills and running so I don’t think I would enjoy it enough for 176/month. I also think it’s too intense for me to do daily. |
