Using your argument if I make a sandwich at home I’m paying for my own mortgage which I would have done anyways. If I eat out I’m covering the restaurant’s expenses in addition to my own. If you can’t see the difference then you’re the one that’s dumber than a doorknob. |
Oh my. |
Try The Corner Bakery BBLT. $10.99 (includes a side) bacon, tomato, lettuce, black pepper balsamic aioli, white toast |
The owner's overhead isn't my problem. If the chain next door has a fungible product for half the price, then they are getting my business. We're not talking about Brooklyn Delis. The Corner Bakery, Jersey Mikes, and Jimmy Johns are close enough to most lunch places and much cheaper |
| Agree OP - it is too much to pay for the amount/quality of food you're getting. I used to eat out all the time but in the recent 6 months have started packing lunches (simple things) and cooking at home. |
| Cava is still decently priced for the amount of food you get. I usually order the falafel bowl with rice and greens and a lot of toppings. It’s $12.50 and I eat half for lunch and the rest for dinner. |
My guess is the Thanks Joe Biden PP and those who agree with that are having a little trouble grasping the sarcasm. Simple minds. |

Chicken sandwich and fries from the value menu at McD's under $5
Many delicious, sizable lunches at Outback for under $13 https://outbackmenus.com/230726/OPT2_80_0723-W3_T2_0723/#pf7 I mostly make my own lunch but if I go out I find a good deal, I don't pay those crazy prices you all are quoting. I do find, however, that my friends who are in their 30s and 40s seem to think nothing of having many meals a week delivered to their home at ridiculous prices. That includes people who also seem to worry a lot about affording their life. |
Sure, but I can’t afford to send my own kids through college anymore either so I’m not going to pay extra so that the teens making my lunch can afford to go. As for mid day workers who are not teens, well I hope they have a back up plan for when restaurants start to fail. |
Haha. of course the owner's overhead is your problem! Do you think the overhead is not baked into the price of your meal at any of the chains you mention? It is, which means that the owner is skimping somewhere else, likely in the quality of the food. You've been trained to enjoy the taste of ground rat tail and pig anus, flavorless iceberg lettuce, and "cheese product." |
+1 love CAVA! |
Keep telling yourself that. I care about the price point and am fine not eating out if it’s too high. Look at all the restaurants going under if you think I’m an outlier |
A 6 pack of craft beer is closer to $13-15 |

That's the way to do it! Get a treat and share it! |
