^I was referring to NMSF |
I went to nationals in debate and forensics. |
I realize this thread hasn't had any activity for a while but I'd appreciate some help: my DD, a rising high school senior, attended a University-level Summer Language Immersion program, taking College Sophomore-level Mandarin and got an academic performance award at the end of the eight-week program (She's a non-heritage speaker). Her classmates were college students from all over the US so it's kinda odd to deem this a school-level award but I'm also dubious about calling this a national award. I would appreciate any suggestions to help clarify what's a good level to categorize this award on common app. TIA! |

My kid listed it as National |
I would call this a school award. It was not nationally competitive to take this program. They must suspect your judgement and credibility if you list this as national. It’s impressive in its truth. |
They “might” suspect …. |
It is a school award. While the program takes kids from all over the country, it is not a nationwide award. Please know that it is still impressive!! |
My DS listed NSLI-Y as a national award |
Yes it is. I’ve seen that listed in that way on Admityogi |
ridiculous |
What about NSHSS? They sent us a bumper sticker and we paid them some money. The “N” stands for National so we listed it that way on the Common App. |
Very funny |
Mine was national merit scholar, AP international diploma scholar and some national french competition runner up with almost perfect SAT, super high GPA, dedicated hobbies etc and acceptances were still underwhelming. However we count as Asian so there is that. |
What about being a 1st place/national winner in individual sport? Along with ranking? Can you put that there (even though sports)? |
Thank you!! |
