Not sure about Medicaid. But pp definitely wrong about ssi and Medicare. You need to pay those taxes for at least 10 years.

Actually, no. Looking at 2019 federal spending (because COVID spending was weird and not representative of normal economic activity), we could cut 100% of defense spending ($676b) and there would still be a deficit (of over $200b).

Cutting defense would make Social Security solvent (and you'd need to cut far less than 100%). If you want to balance the budget, you need to raise taxes, but that's a non-starter for republicans.
