I voted for her as the lesser of evils. I think that the "Green Team" ---which started with Adrian Fenty and his fraternity brothers---are a little too corrupt re government contracting. But I dislike the progressive lunatics far more. Robert White's idea that the DC government should just guarantee everybody a job is risible. That was how Barry built a bloated and dysfunctional city bureaucracy in the 80s which drove us into bankruptcy and the control board in the 90s. Same with the issues around crime. Remember---White, Silverman, Allen, Nadeau all want to raise the youth rehabilitation act age ceiling to 26 and Bowser opposes it. |
So lemme get this straight… we were supposed to vote for White, who wanted to continue school closures, to punish Bowser for not reopening quickly enough? Is this your actual logic? That you thought people would use at the polls? |
| I voted for her. I like how she handles hecklers. |
lol this is a thread about elections sweetie. sorry you can’t handle reality! |
Bowser doesn’t have a crazy/by the seat of my pants look in her eyes like the rest of the candidates. Good enough for me. Honestly, I went by who’s not crazy |
+1, like we're not allowed to use Robert White's horrible track record as a reason to vote against him. |
No she didn’t. If she wanted to open them, she would have. There are teachers unions in every state and everyone else managed to figure it out. She was giving the middle finger to Trump in Sept 2020, which I fully support, but the schools were closed because it was politically expedient for her party. |
If you don’t understand how the failure to open schools unfolded in DC, I can’t help you. Bowser kept going to the union to negotiate terms of reopening. They would not agree. Each time they had NEW demands, some of which were laughable in terms of actual mitigation measures. Bowser was absolutely invested in reopening and if the union had been willing to work WITH her, I stead if against reopening, it could have happened as early as August 2020. |
LOL you have not paid attention AT ALL through the entire last couple of years if you think unions didn't have something to do with school reopening (or not). It's been the subject of research and many, many news articles. e.g., "So, the empirical research suggests that teachers’ unions slowed fall school reopening decisions during a worldwide pandemic, and media accounts suggest their efforts continued as schools returned from winter break." https://www.brookings.edu/blog/brown-center-chalkboard/2021/03/25/teachers-unions-scapegoats-or-bad-faith-actors-in-covid-19-school-reopening-decisions/ |

I voted for Bowser. She handled COVID well and I like the direction the city is going overall.
|
| No, of course I didn't vote for Muriel. I've been here 14 years, btw. |
| I voted for Bowser. And I've been here 14 years and 1 day, btw. |
You enjoying the crime? |
My neighborhood isn't experiencing a lot of crime. Crime is up nation wide. Blaming Bowser for this is stupid. |
I've been here for 30 years and, yes, I voted for Bowser. |
