Why do people act like GMU doesn't have Eng and put all their hopes in VT for eng?

Anonymous
The first person to respond nailed it. VT has a college "culture" and GMU is a commuter school. End of debate. Of course most kids would prefer a school where they could spend Saturday's in the fall bouncing up and down to Enter Sandman. Give me a break!

You might be fine at GMU majoring in CS, Econ or Engineering. It is not known for anything else. And college is a lot more than just the ability to land your first job. Even CS majors take other classes. How are the English, History and Physics classes? I would not discount everything else.

Why waste money on other types of degrees

So you recommend that every kid should be aiming for a CS degree?

sound like a plan.
if you can't handle it, then switch

Is it the same troll on every thread promoting CS or bust? What a bore. CS has got to be the least interesting major I can think of.

I find CS fascinating, love my work. For people who aren't intrinsically interested in it it would be a terrible job and they probably wouldn't be that good at it. I think pushing people towards STEM degrees that they don't want is a poor idea.

This is disappointing. I wasn't aware of GMU's ties with the right. We always viewed it as a viable choice for our son who is a sophomore now and interested in CS. Oh well!

Not sure the Econ department is reflective of the students. If it has what you want, go in eyes wide open.

Not PP but JMU CS? Seems to not be a great decision.

If you kid isn't going into Econ or law school it literally has no impact. GMU is a huge school with tons of diversity.

+1 That's a route to a low-GPA, stalling out in a job and generally disliking your life. I do think every kid should take some CS as it's a basic literacy these days.
