There are very few interesting and creative jobs that require false time pressure like the SAT.

Literally every job has time pressure. It’s called deadlines.

Not like the SAT. I've had well-compensated, creative jobs for most of my career and I've never encountered anything like the fake time pressure of the SAT. It's a useless measure for creativity and intelligence (which is why it's quickly going the way of the dinosaurs).

I'm not in DC but my kid with severe dyslexia was admitted to the equivalent of a Big 3 with full knowledge of the school and extra time on the admissions exam.

I am the PP. My DC is in 11th, so they took the SSAT with 50% extra time. When they took the school administered placement exams for math and language in May of 8th grade, DC received extra time. I emailed the school and said, “DC receives 50% extra time on exams, will you provide it for the placement tests?” They said, “Of course.” Not a big deal - seriously.

Putting aside the logistics of proctoring the test, why can't anyone opt for extra time? I thought these standardized tests were supposed to show how well you can do under a specific time constraint. Either anyone can get extra time or noone can get extra time. I doubt most kids need more than say 45-60 times tacked onto the entire test to finish comfortably, so just give each section that extra time.

Remember the 60s and 70s where some doctors, psychiatrists, scientists, educationalists, and quacks swore these tests were the equivalent of IQ exams and those with poor scores were dumb and less intelligent!
